PARENTS

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Welcome to the Air Force Junior ROTC program at JHS! Our Mission is to “Develop Citizens of Character Dedicated to Serving Their Nation and Community.” We accomplish this mission through a broad curriculum that includes a variety of activities, some of which will be off campus. We trust that JROTC will be a memorable and strengthening experience for your son or daughter as they grow into responsible adults. Much has been invested to make this a great year! Your cadet will be issued a uniform for the school year at no cost, while also enjoying many great activities at no expense. As indicated in our policy letter, students participating in our program will wear a US Air Force JROTC uniform once a week and maintain military personal appearance standards.

We do have a few events that incur some cost. TSgt Tidwell and I are looking forward to our first “Curriculum-in-Action” field trip to the U.S. Space & Rocket Center in Huntsville AL on September and the National Museum of the Air Force at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio on 27th November 1st. Our AS200 cadets have priority for the trip to the U.S. Space & Rocket Center and the AS100 cadets have priority in visiting the National Museum of the Air Force. Your cadet won’t want to miss these trips! Additionally, we will have an Air Force JROTC Dining Out which is a formal dinner mandatory for all cadets to attend. We will have more information about this event during the parents meeting.

Please plan on attending our Parent Meeting on August 14th cafeteria where you will be given vital information regarding the AFJROTC program, field trips, cadet activities and responsibilities. At this meeting, you will also have the opportunity to purchase various Air Force JROTC items. Thank you for your support of your cadet and the AFJROTC program at Jeff High.

Sincerely,

ROBERT E. BENNING, Col, USAF (Ret)
